Another busy week

We have been keeping ourselves busy. Monday we had a visit from Gma and Gpa B. They took us out to lunch. When I had first told Kolbe that they were coming he said "We need to put away these toys so Grandma and Grandpa will come over to our house." So naturally the first thing he did when they did come was empty all of his toys onto the floor. He was a wild man at lunch and told our neighbor Roz the next day, "Little boys are wild things." I can't figure out where he got that phrase other than that we have been reading the book Where the Wild Things Are. Once Kolbe notices a new book in the shelf he wants to only read that book for several weeks. After reading each book a few times he memorizes most of the words and finishes sentences I start to read. He thinks he's actually reading the story.
Tuesday Roz and I made over 600 chocolate chip cookies to take to St. E's School. It actually took a couple of days, but we finished up on Tues. All of the cookies were a thank you for all the students and their families have done for Jeff and the care packages and letters he has received. Kolbe's little friend Phillip brought him a Valentine on Tuesday. He delivered his Valentines on our way to dinner with Gma D. Gpa is in Wisconsin helping Suzanne while Scott is in China on business. So on Valentines we were all without our mates: Jeff, Gpa D, Gma D, Scott, Suzanne and I were all single.
Wednesday we went to Jeff's school to deliver the cookies. Kolbe wouldn't let me brush his hair before we left. He said he will brush it next time we go to daddy's school.
Today we went to the mall with Tanya, Matthew and Ella and let the kids play in the play area. We did a bit of shopping and had lunch then came home and took naps. Tonight we did a singles dinner at Roz's. Mom, Tanya, Roz and I all are without husbands this weekend so we got together for dinner at her house. Today Elizabeth is 10 months old so we decided it would double as her 10 month birthday party.
Tomorrow Kolbe is going to see his first movie in the theatre. We are going to see Curious George. I'm not sure how long he can sit still for a movie, so we may only see half of it. Who knows. He has never really been interested in television, but he loves Curious George. He even has Curious George underwear. He has the entire Curious George book memorized. At this point so do I. I can't begin to count how many times I have read that book.
On the Libby front, Feb. 1st she stood without support for the first time. It just lasted a second or 2, but she did it! The next day she stood for a little longer and then fell down with a thud. She hasn't attempted it since. She has tried to say many words. Just like Kolbe did, she'll say the first 2 letters of the word. I reported a few of weeks ago she said "BuhBuh" to the recycling people. She also said what sounded like "Hi Mama" one morning when she woke up. She said baby pretty clearly when talking about Ella a couple weeks back and this week has tried bird and ball. Of course bird is "Bi" and ball is "Ba." The only way you can even tell what she means is because she tries to say it after you have said the word several times and/or pointed the object out to her.
Libby is such a second child. If I had this website up and going when Kolbe was her age no doubt the day he accomplished a milestone it would have been documented. But it takes me several days or weeks to record her feats. On Aunt Suzanne's birthday Feb 4, her first tooth emerged. Now she has one through on top, one through on bottom, with the other top tooth just under the gums. Of course the assymmetry is driving her mom crazy. Evidently my kids seem to think important things should happen on Suzanne's birthday because that was the day Kolbe pulled himself up to standing and crawled for the first time.
Libby is doing a lot of cruising along the couch and other furniture and recently has tried to bend down and pick something up while standing at the couch. It's pretty funny to watch her try to balance and decide if she thinks she is going to fall and is the toy actually worth falling for. She can now crawl while carrying something in her hand, so she'll drag the kitchen utensils I let her play with in the kitchen into the bathroom, her favorite place to crawl to. She is fascinated by the bathroom and Kolbe's potty chair. Joy! ;) She also loves to find cheerios that have rolled into the oddest places and devour them. How long has the cheerio been there?
